Scholarships are both need and merit based.   Amount of individual scholarship is determined based on college's Financial Aid Need Analysis.   Funds are paid directly to the college or university of applicant's choice.   Scholarships are contingent on the Foundation's availability of funds.

The Scholarship Program targets at risk youth.   At risk youth are those who:

  • are receiving survivor social security benefits,
  • are in foster care because they are wards of the court system (DHR),
  • are first generation college students (neither parent or siblings have been to college),
  • are low income (can be verified by counselor if appliant is receiving free or reduced lunch and can be verified by college financial aid office if applicant qualified for Pell Grant).  If this information is not available through these sources, the applicant will need to provide a copy of the front cover of their Federal Student Aid Report showing EFC#.
